2010 Running for Answers, Patient Symposium & Brunch |

Plans are well under way for the 2010 Patient Support Symposium, which will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 1:30pm –5:30pm at the The Congress Room at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel (1200 Market Street).Light refreshments will be served in the afternoon.
Join us and other desmoid tumor patients and their families and for an afternoon of new friends, new information and hope.
- We have an exciting roster of speakers and topics lined up including the following:
Dr. Andrea Marrari Medical Oncologist from The Istituto NazionaledeiTumori in Milan, Italy will speak about medical treatments, clinical presentations and prognosis of desmoid tumors. Dr. Marrari is a visiting researcher at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute
Dr. Vernon Sondak, Chief of the Division of Cutaneous Oncology and Director of Surgical Education at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute will speak about surgical therapies, as well as the biology, pathology and etiology of desmoid tumors.
Dr. Stephen Skapek, Associate Professor of Pediatrics , Section of Hematology/Oncology, at the Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago will speak about the unique dilemma of treating desmoid tumors in the pediatric population. Dr. Skapek is a DTRF Grant Recipient.
Dr. Benjamin Alman, Head of the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario will speak about ongoing research in the search for a cure of desmoid tumors. Dr. Alman is a DTRF grant recipient.
.Following the talks will be a chance for patients to interact with the experts and with each other. This has been the highlight of the event for many of our attendees.
