DTRF has achieved so many crucial milestones with the support of donors like you. Be an advocate for desmoid tumors by creating your own online fundraising campaign in honor of your birthday, wedding or special achievement (marathon, bike race)! This is your opportunity to be a part of our journey towards a cure for desmoid tumors! Here’s how…
Step 1: Visit http://www.firstgiving.com/dtrf/about.
Step 2: Click on “Start Fundraising” and “Create your fundraising page.”
Step 3: Login or create a firstgiving account.
If you already have an account with Firstgiving, login. If not, follow the site instructions to create an account. (Hold onto your email address and password- this is important!)
Step 4: Choose DTRF as the beneficiary, and create your campaign and fundraising page.
The title of your page should include a brief summary with your name and the event/ campaign such as, “Support Patty as she conquers 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon on behalf of DTRF.”
Add a photo, write a personal message about why you are inspired to fundraise for DTRF and set your fundraising target. Since this is your page, you can alter it by editing your story, adding video or changing your goal whenever you’d like.
Step 5: Push it out!
Not only can you send your page via email to friends and family, you can share it on Facebook and tweet it. By logging in, you can see who has donated to your page. You can also enter offline donations!
Step 6: Say “thank you”…
Remember to always show your gratitude when it comes to someone donating to your campaign. Your donors are supporting you and DTRF. We are so grateful for this support, and we’re sure you are too.
DTRF is grateful for the support of volunteers all over the country who create events which bring awareness and raise funds for desmoid tumor research. Whether you decide to host a bowl-a-thon, race, silent auction or fundraising dinner, you can help fund research, bringing DTRF closer to a cure for this rare disease.
Check out these fundraisers that have been held in the past, with proceeds benefiting DTRF.
