SUMMARY:2024 Annual Patient Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Founded in 2007\, the annual DTRF Patient Meeting is our signature patient support event of the DTRF Together We Will Weekend.\nIt always takes place on Saturday\, the day before our annual RFA Walk. The meeting includes educational presentations by clinicians and researchers\, with questions from the audience\, as well as a talk by a desmoid patient. \nContent is geared toward topics of interest to our patient and caregiver community. Physicians are also strongly encouraged to attend this foundational event of the Weekend. This meeting will be recorded and available on our website in the weeks following the event. \nThe Patient Meeting is part of the DTRF Together We Will Weekend. In order to attend the Meeting\, you need to register for the Weekend.

DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, September 5th at 4pm ET\, join us for a webinar featuring Dr. Dale Shepard from the Cleveland Clinic. He will explain how impactful the testing of biomarkers is in the diagnosis and treatment of desmoid tumors. He will also touch on genetic testing in relation to CTNNB1 mutations. \nRegister Here \nDale R. Shepard MD\, PhD is the Director of the Taussig Phase I and Sarcoma programs at Cleveland Clinic. In this role\, Dr. Shepard oversees the early development of the new cancer therapies including the genomic-based treatments and immunotherapies that are revolutionizing the care of patients with cancer. He sees nearly 200 sarcoma consults annually with patients from across the country including patients with desmoid tumors. As a medical oncologist and clinical researcher\, he has been the principal investigator for dozens of clinical trials and has been a recipient of a National Cancer Institute Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award. Dr. Shepard is a thought leader for management of sarcoma\, gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers and has been a consultant for many pharmaceutical companies. DESCRIPTION:Athina’s Ride is a cycling event that starts with training rides in the spring and culminates on July 13/14th weekend. You can either complete the ride on your own\, with family & friends or join our ride led by Athina Merckx on the Saturday July 13th in Penticton\, British Columbia. Come join Athina and support her and other Desmoid patients in the fight to find a cure. \nDetails: This ride will be a casual 30 km route around Naramata bench. If you want more of a challenge raise $1000 and you will receive a free entry into the Okanagan Granfondo on Sunday July 14th and can choose from 4 distances. Ride by yourself\, with some friends or along with the Okanagan Granfondo ride. You can ride indoors on a trainer or outdoors (and manually log it or use platforms like Strava to automatically upload your rides). You’ll sign up\, choose your distance\, and start training anytime up until July 14th.
