Desmoid tumor immortal cell lines are available for purchase at the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), a public biorepository based in Manassas, VA. These tumor-derived models can be used in basic research as well as pharmacological screening applications.
The availability of these cell lines is a significant milestone as we work to provide verified and standardized resources to our research community.
- HCM-BROD-0762-C49: This cell line is positive for the CTNNB1 T41A mutation. It was created by the Cancer Cell Line Factory at the Broad Institute as part of the Human Cancer Model Initiative (HCMI).
- A second desmoid cell line that is positive for the S45F mutation has also been sent to ATCC for expansion and is expected to be available for purchase in coming months.
Detailed information about these models can be found on the ATCC website and on the HCMI website. Discounted pricing is available to academic researchers.
We continue to support research initiatives such as the development of cell lines at the Broad Institute and MIT to reflect the heterogeneity of this disease and to place these critical resources in the public domain to enable easy access to researchers.
We are grateful to the patients who have consented to donate tumor tissue through Rare Cancer Research Foundation’s (RCRF) initiative, Pattern.org. Tissue donation is instrumental in helping expedite the development of improved therapies to ultimately help find a cure.
